Emiliano Manfren

Head Bjj Coach – Black Belt

Emiliano Manfren was born in Venice and began Jiu-Jitsu in 2007 at Beverly Hill Jiu Jitsu Club in Los Angeles under Marcus Vinicius and Octavio Couto. He earned his Black Belt in 2019 by Octavio Couto.

Emiliano is the Founder and Head Coach of Jiu Jitsu Squad Venezia Emiliano has experience in classes for children and adults of all ages as well as in personal protection training.

Octavio “Ratinho” Couto

BJJ Professor 6th degree black belt

With more than 30 years of experience to share, Octavio “Ratinho” Couto is a 6th degree Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Black Belt and one of the most revered of all BJJ coaches in the world.

Originally competing with Alliance, he was one of seven black belts to form Team Brasa in 2002. He co-founded and developed the curriculum and operations at AKXE BJJ, the largest academy of Rio de Janeiro.

College educated and speaking four languages, Octavio now travels the world, spreading the art of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu through his seminars. You can find him at Jiu Jitsu Squad Venezia in Mestre , teaching classes and seminars about once a month.

Daniel Merli

Bjj Fundamentals Coach – Purple Belt

Daniel Merli is our Assistant Head Instructor and Beginner Program Director. He is sharing almost a decade of fighting and teaching experience with the sport’s next generation.

He started training MMA in Riccione under Venator Featherweight champion Federico Mini in 2011 and he got involved with jiu jitsu in 2016, taking the sport seriously from the start. Eventually, he moved to Mestre, which is where he first met his Professor Emiliano Manfren.

Daniel competes in the middleweight division where he makes use of his unique and dynamic style of fighting.
